I've had the same problem today.. I installed version 2.0.2 on Win XP yesterday.. and it worked fine, but the feeds stopped refreshing at 8am today. I installed version 2 on Windows 7 at home... that still works.
Version 1 still worked earlier. However I have now uninstalled/reinstalled version 2 which didn't fix the problem, but I'm getting random crashes with both versions!

I have the 2.0.2 on win7 and it works now like a charm. The problem seized and the tweets started pouring in at 1pm. Will see how it goes from here....

Having the same issue now. Red whale on all tabs but search works just fine.

Here we go again the red whale in back and the feeds won't refresh BUT the search works, strange....

The red whales on all except search leads me to believe there's some serious
issues with the main Twitter API—because the Search API is separate. I
checked the status (http://dev.twitter.com/status) and it seems to be fine.
Red whales only appear when Twitter returns an error, so perhaps they're
moving things around or what not.

But there seems to be a problem with statuses/home_timeline (OAuth 1.0a)

1.7.2 works fine while 2.0.2 fails.

Been having the same issues this morning as well. Tweed on my Pre and web are working fine.

Annoying "me too" post. Sorry.
I am able to post tweets from DestroyTwitter. And, like everyone else, search works but "home" and "mentions" = red whales.

this was tweeted by the @twitterapi :
We're hearing reports that we're incorrectly rate limiting some requests - we're investigating. ^RK

All day fail whales on TL, Mentions and Message. This is fustrating because this is happening every week. I uninstalled and installed the first version - worked fine. unsinstalled the first and installed the 2.02 and again whales - WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS? The problem surly lies in the APP and not Twitter other wise it would do this on both versions. Please let me know what is going on, I tweet an average of 100 tweets a day (WORK TWEETS) and need an app that works. SInce the 2.0 was released I thought finally a fabulous app, but then the problems started with RED WHALES. Let me know what is going on PLEASE.

PS: Forgot to mention, the only thing I can do is post, thats all!
Support Staff 16 Posted by Jonnie Hallman on 06 Jul, 2010 09:19 PM
The problem is Twitter's as noted above by Zomby6. The reason why it's
happening with 2.0 and not older versions is because it's only occurring
with OAuth-based apps.

Can't this be resolved in any way, because it is frustrating as hell.
18 Posted by Zomby6 on 06 Jul, 2010 10:09 PM
The problem has ended on my side since the twitter APIs were reset about an hour ago, and since then I haven't seen a red whale
Support Staff 19 Posted by Jonnie Hallman on 06 Jul, 2010 10:09 PM
It's all on Twitter's end, so it's up to them to resolve. They're working on
it and will probably have it fixed sooner than later. Until then, just sit
tight. There's not much else that can be done.

Back to square one, was so happy when my DT was back to normal this morning when I started to work, until just now, RED WHALES AGAIN!!!!! I will have to change to another app as I can no longer rely on this one for my work. I am really saddened that it has come to this. I am honest Jonnie when I say that other apps like TweetDeck don't experience these issues so the problem must lie within this version of DT, because even your first Beta works fine.

I must apologize, the following has just come to my attention (Sorry Jonnie, owe you one my friend) - Twitter API changes cripple third party apps http://bit.ly/a72ZWN

I have been having troubles with it for about 2 weeks. Its just stuck on the home feed I had about 2 weeks ago and the Mentions and DM's Doesn't show anything.
