I fixed it myself I uninstalled DT first then it was the dtpref file I had to disable UAC in Vista to delete the whole folder in AppData\Roaming and use CCleaner to remove any remaining registry junk I reinstalled and presto it created a new dtpref file as the other one was junk for whatever reason so basically it reauthenticated my twitter account info.
I went specifically to my computer
\C:\Users\whatever your account is\AppData\Roaming and the folder is named com.destroytoday.destroytwitter I deleted that
if you have trouble with the path just copy it to notepad and replace where it says whatever your account is to your user account name then copy and paste it into the addressbar when your in C dive it should work then delete it and use CCleaner to clear the registry reboot reinstall
if you run Vista you will need to turn off UAC to delete the folder type in your search feature User Account and pick User Accounts then Turn User Accounts on or off turn off reboot.

If anyone else experiences the issue that Lisa had, can you please send me your .dtpref file prior to deleting it? My email is ***@destroytoday.com

Already did what Lisa said and no luck T_T

@ Daniel Cordero if you only delete the dtpref file it will recreate once you open DT back up again even if you reinstall you have to delete the whole folder and clean the registry with CCleaner I tried many things before I did it this way also I had special characters in my twitter password which I changed to alpha numeric prior to logging in to DT.

@Lisa I used CCleaner too that time, as you said on your post. Didn't work T_T

@Jonnie this also happened to me after revoking destroytwitter access on twitter settings.
Even after a new oauth flow after logging in destroytwitter again and getting a new token it still gets fail whale. Deleting .dtpref didn't solved the problem either.
The solution was to delete the database file and restart the application.
I can replicate this problem every time following the previous steps.
It seems that DT is always using the same token received at first account auth, i.e. not noticing that the token is no longer valid.
My setup:
- Windows 7 - DT 2.1.1 - AIR 2.0.3
Hope it helps.

SUPPORT: My 2nd account again saw "red whale" .. and understand why this is happening: * when I Disabled Access Connections DT (in my account on web) and tried to connect via DT client, then again those "red whales" 8-(. While your account re-approved DT client.
wazzup?!!!
This is a bug DT? or what should be done correctly?

@nuno - Delete the database.db file and restart. I'm working on a more
pleasant solution.
